Moisture-damaged building materials can release volatile organic compounds or irritating airborne chemicals that may be associated with health problems.”

“Moisture allows indoor mold to grow and multiply on building materials and surfaces. People inside damp buildings may be exposed to microbes, compounds released by microbes, and their structural components, such as spores and fungal fragments.” - United States Centers for Disease Control (CDC)

Common Causes of Water Damage

Both interior and exterior factors can lead to water damage at home. Rapid response is the key to reducing damage, because the longer water sits, the deeper it seeps. At Mold Solutions, we have the equipment and experience you'll need if you ever experience an emergency water damage concern at home.

• Heavy Rain • Hurricanes •  Flooding • Plumbing issues •  Burst Pipes • Leaks

We’ve seen it all, and we deal with it all. At Mold Solutions, we know the risks of water damage, and the trouble it causes to homes and businesses. Our response is rapid and properly measured to reduce the spread of water and ensure your home or place of work are returned to pre-flood conditions. Key to this is the fact that “dry to the eye” isn’t actually dry. Our equipment will pull wet and damp from deep within materials, and our moisture meters will not only help us detect the scope and spread of the problem, but help ensure a metered dry reading on your building material. And that’s key to mold and microbe growth prevention and to your peace of mind.

What You Need to Know

Mold Solutions • Tampa Bay, FL

Mold Solutions of Tampa Bay is a fully licensed and insured team, equipped to rapidly tackle water damage and indoor floods of any size, residential or commercial. Since speed (and thoroughness of dry-out) is the single most important factor in addressing water damage to prevent structural damage and health concerns, we’ll show up immediately and get wet/dry vacs running en masse to limit the potential damage. As our Founder points out, “Dry to the eye isn’t dry,” we’ll ensure that every last drop and remnant of water is soaked up, then run dehumidifiers to reduce humidity and remove even the hidden water you can’t see—such as in carpeting, subflooring, and behind walls. Again, we’re a fully licensed and insured team of mold remediation and water damage mitigation experts who’ve helped hundreds if not thousands of local businesses and homeowners in times of need.

That depends on the size and scope of the spill, flood or leak. We’re equipped to handle flooding or all types and sizes and will work rapidly—very rapidly—to reduce the spread of the flood, and remove every last drop of water—important for the both structural integrity and the health of future occupants. Simple water damage restoration jobs can take as little as 2-4 hours, but we’ve also dealt with indoor flooding that has taken 2-4 days to fully complete. Pricing is handled by the job, not the hour, and our concern is simply that water damages buildings and the health of the people in them (such as through mold, mildew, or waterborne contaminants). Step 1 will be assessing the extent of the problem and informing you of what to expect as far as time and cost are concerned.

As with the time that water damge mitigation takes, so the cost of it also varies. Dry out after an overflowing toilet will take less time and cost less than, say, a full home dry out after a hurricane or storm. We’re equipped for both and, being a local family-owned and operated company, do our very best to offer competitive prices affordable to everyone.

Whether flooding and flood damage are covered by insurance is determined based on the type of insurance policy you have. In many cases, the work we do will or can be covered by insurance, but not in all. Flood Insurance is usually covered by a separate policy, and regular homeowner’s insurance may not cover it.

You might need water damage restoration or dry-out after a flood or leak of any size, depending on the location. A leak that drips water onto a tiled floor is a lot less likely to require professional water damage restoration than, say a flooded carpet. Because one (tile) does a good (but not perfect) job at not allowing water to pass through it, while the other (carpet) is incredibly water-absorbent, and will allow almost all water to pass through it and into the sub-flooring where it will continue doing damage to both your home and, potentially, to your family. Water damage that isn’t fully and thoroughly dried up can/will contribute to or cause mold and mildew problems that can manifest as allergy-like symptoms. Mold affects some people more than others, but hidden mold is generally not a light matter and not something you want you and your family to have to live with.

Our Water Damage Restoration services include everything needed to fully dry-out all water, and restore your home to pre-flood conditions. But, please note than in some extreme cases, parts of your house may have to be removed or cut out—such as carpet saturated in storm water, or drywall soaked in toilet water, etc., and that rebuilding these parts are not part of Water Damage Remediation. A Water Damage Restoration company doesn’t do re-builds, but a building or construction company doesn’t do Water Damage Restoration—since these are two very different skill sets / scopes of work. Step 1, prior to calling in a Contractor or Handyman to rebuild or repair anything damaged by water, is to hire a Water Damage Restoration company to fully dry out the area.

Generally, no, depending on the size and scope of the flood or leak, as well as the type of water that has leaked. For example, if a toilet floods in your home and water damage is limited to a bathroom and hallway, you very likely will not have to move out. After a hurricane however, or if the flooding is extensive—say it covers the entire first floor—it is usually in your best interest to move out, not because it “makes Water Damage Restoration easier,” but because flood waters harbor bacteria and pathogens that the CDC and other Agencies suggest you avoid, and because—again depending on the size and scope—your home may not be safely livable. But we also understand that “just moving out” is a lot easier said than done, which is why we’ll work together to find the best possible solution. It really does depend on the unique situation, but generally speaking, most of the people or companies we do Water Damage Restoration for will still occupy or live in the property while work is ongoing.

That’s a tricky question. If you feel you can, just be sure you dry everything out entirely, and remember that “dry to the eye isn’t dry,” which means it’s not enough to mop up the visible water, because the biggest problem is often the water you can no longer see—the water that seeped into carpeting, behind baseboards, etc. The best thing you can do is call a company like ours, while you work to remove as much of the water as possible, as fast as possible. Or just call us and we’ll be there as fast as humanly possible. We can and always do do the dirty work, but if you’re wondering what you can do to help or to limit the cost or extent of possible damage, its this: 1) Shut off or stop the flowing water as priority. 2) Do whatever you can to remove standing water, whether that means a broom, a mop, a bunch of old towels, or a wet/dry vac. Also, instead of trying to remove all water as fast as you can, its smart to keep the water contained or limited to a specific area. Let’s say a few smartly placed towels will stop water from rushing down the stairs, that’s a very smart move. Limit the spread of water.
