Brooker Creek Preserve

If you are looking for a great place to get outdoors, Brooker Creek Preserve is the place for you. This nature park is located just north of Clearwater in Pinellas County, Florida. It is home to eight-hundred acres of pine flatwoods and forested wetlands. It also features an environmental education center with exhibits and a schedule of guided hikes. The preserve’s five miles of trails meander through pine flatwoods and oak hammocks, providing glimpses of wildlife. There are also large sections of boardwalk that wind through forested wetlands. These boardwalks offer a cool respite from the heat of the day. Those who wish to ride their horse should bring water for their horses. Also, be sure to wear sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.

Friends Trail at Brooker Creek Preserve

This park features many different trails for a variety of purposes. Its Oak-lined Paths are a great way to enjoy a peaceful walk while learning about the natural environment. The Friends Trail at Brooker Creek Preserve is a two-mile loop trail that traverses uplands and circles wetlands along Brooker Creek. The Friends Trail is located near the Brooker Creek Preserve Nature Center, which offers guided hikes of the park’s 4-mile loop trail system. It is open seven days a week from sunrise to sunset.

The Lora Lane Interpretive Trail is a short drive from the Center. It takes hikers through a pine flatwood community and past a swamp that’s under restoration. The trail ends at a small rain shelter. Near Moccasin Lake, you can visit Brigham Dock, where you might see a resident alligator. The park also houses several injured birds of prey.
