The park is named after John S. Taylor, who was a prominent supporter of Pinellas County’s independence. He was a state legislator from Hillsborough County from 1905 until 1910 and assisted in the separation of Pinellas County in 1911. He was also the mayor of Largo and the president of the Florida Citrus Exchange. He also owned one of the most successful citrus packing companies in Florida.

John S Taylor Park is a 156.5-acre park that connects to the Pinellas Trail. It is also home to a 53-acre freshwater lake and a disc golf course. The course features a tree-lined shell trail and is open seven days a week. It is closed on the day after Thanksgiving and December 25.

John Taylor was born in Indian Rocks in 1871. While growing up, he worked in his parents’ orange grove and packing plant. Many credited him with founding the county. Sadly, Taylor died in 1936. His home is now a park in Pinellas County named after him.

A man recently died while looking for his lost Frisbees in a lake at a popular disc golf course in Largo, Florida. While there are warning signs posted, disc golfers should be aware that the lake is home to alligators. Disc golfers are also advised to avoid the lake at all times.
It is a member of the Florida Horticultural Society
The Florida Horticultural Society is a state-level organization that was formed in 1953. Membership in the society is open to anyone interested in gardening. John S Taylor Park Largo was formally a resident of Graham, Texas and a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1864. He also served as postmaster in Graham. He also served as treasurer for the Dakota Territory. In addition to being a member of the Democratic National Committee, Taylor served as the mayor of Meridian, Miss., and he was buried there.
