At Mold Solutions, we strive to be proactive in bettering our ability to serve you, the people of Tampa Bay.
That’s why we trained among the best of the best in the industry.
And why we’re proud to announce we’ll soon have a mold detection dog.
Mold detection dogs are specially trained canines that can detect mold spores and mycotoxins with remarkable accuracy.
Their keen sense of smell, estimated to be tens of thousands to possibly even 100,000 times more sensitive than that of humans, allows them to locate hidden mold in areas that might be difficult for us humans to inspect.
That includes behind walls, under carpets, or in HVAC systems.
Using mold dogs right significantly improves mold inspections, because mold is rapidly found, and rarely overlooked.
“It has been estimated that dogs can smell anywhere from 1,000 to 10,000 times better than people.”
University of Alaska Fairbanks, “A Nose 1,000 Times Better Than Ours”
One of the main benefits of mold detection dogs is their efficiency.
These dogs can cover large areas quickly, saving time and resources during an inspection process.
Their ability to pinpoint specific locations of mold allows our mold remediation team to focus efforts precisely where they are needed, potentially reducing the overall cost of remediation.
Mold detection dogs undergo extensive training that can last several months. They are often trained to identify specific types of mold, including Aspergillus and Stachybotrys (black mold), which can be particularly harmful.
Dogs can also be impacted by mold and mycotoxins, so we don’t recommend you use your own pet for this. Our dog—like yours—is kept happy and healthy in a mold-free environment. She’ll spend as little time in mold-affected areas as possible. If you have a mold problem, your dog might be the first to notice it, but get your pet and its caretaker (that’s you 😉 ) away from mold growth as fast as feasible.
These dogs are trained to differentiate between various mold spores and other environmental odors, allowing them to accurately indicate the presence of mold even in complex environments.
Before our mold dog arrives, you can help by clearing the area of any potential distractions (like food or toys) that could interfere with her focus during the inspection.
Mold dogs can detect mold without invasive procedures, reducing the need for cutting into walls or ceilings, which can be disruptive and costly.
The speed at which mold detection dogs can cover an area allows for quicker assessments, enabling faster decision-making regarding remediation efforts.
The use of mold dogs can provide homeowners and property managers with greater confidence in the inspection process, knowing that an expert canine team is working to uncover hidden mold issues.
